Mentoring Relationship
The following outlines the nature of the mentoring relationship that is to be expected. In certain circumstances such as Covid-19 lockdown, the way a young person and youth worker meet will change (such as meeting via video call and more frequently).
Where will meetings take place?
*
(We recommend they take place in a public place.)
How often will meetings take place?
*
(We recommend once every 3-6 weeks, with a session lasting approximately an hour to an hour and a half.)
How will the mentor and young person contact each other?
*
(e.g. Text messages, phone calls, WhatsApp) Please note that our safeguarding policy requires youth workers to either copy in another one of Oak's youth workers or send screenshots of the conversation to another Oak youth worker when messaging a young person. This is to protect both the young person and the youth worker.
Agreed contact with parents/carers:
*
Do parents want the mentor to advise them of every meeting arranged with the young person?
How should the mentor do this?
